THE SPENCER NIEMETZ VALENTINE'S DAY WISHLIST + 2 SOUNDTRACKS FOR YOUR DAY

Happy Valentine's Day, my cupid bbys!!! I hope you all eat lots of chocolate and get really fat so you'll stop buying up my size before I go shopping. Speaking of shopping, I picked up this insane pair of brown Kenneth Cole ankle boots the other day that I'm super psyched to work into my next look. Since I'm planning to spend my entire morning at school and my entire evening at work, I'm going to let my freak flag really fly today and let everyone know EXACTLY why I'm single! And with that, I need to let you guys know that these new shoes smell INCREDIBLE. If you're not completely sold on the smooth smell of new leather, I want you to ditch your honey tonight, trek down to your nearest Boot Star, and bury your nose in some cowboy kicks. You're welcome. Now, around Christmas, I typed up this little wishlist on the day of, detailing my greed with the aid of pictures and pizza. As much as I stand by what I said regarding my feeling pretentious and materialistic when making out wishlists, I've grown to find that no one ever actually gets me anything off of my lists, so they're 100% fun for me to make and dream!!! With that, GIVE ME THIS STUFF AND YOU'RE MY INSTA-VALENTINE!

While I was enjoying my day off and running various errands, I decided that I wasn't going to get out of bed (at 5pm) and wander around in my go-to errand look: lazy grunge. Long story short, I dressed up like a punk rock Care Bear. Part of my PRCB ensemble included my first and favorite pair of black combat boots. They were total Doc knock-offs and I picked them up at Hot Topic when I was 5 years younger and 2 shoe sizes smaller, but I can't bring myself to part with them. When they pinch my toes, I grin and bear it and stomp around like a rock god. However, as with most knock-offs, they didn't hold up like their predecessors. Today was their final outing, the entire sole having finally removed itself beyond the repair of super glue. Moment of silence for my cheap shoes. Thank you. Buy me the real ones.

Alexander Wang Water Resistant Nylon Faille Trench

Unbeknownst to some, I have a soft spot in my heart for trenchcoats. They make me feel like a tired middle-aged Londoner circa-1960, making my way home from my job at the local paper to a tired family with tired complaints (so kind of like a sad, British Peter Parker sans superpowers). Why I like to feel this way, I don't know, but I do, and no one's trenches/jackets/anything give me that exact feeling the way Alexander Wang's do (totally a good thing).

After all, I'm not gunning for a steampunk look everyday, and I'm always in need of more knick-knacks to execute my “indie grandpa” looks. Truthfully, I'd never been much of a watch man for the longest time and since I got my first cellphone, I had pushed the idea of a wristwatch's usefulness from my mind. It wasn't until I was looking for the right accessory with some look one day, I don't remember what it was, urban dragon gentleman or something, and I decided to literally blow the dust off of an old watch that was hanging out in the back of my sock drawer. It'd been dead since I'd gotten it, but it pulled everything together and I felt like a real street dragon prince. However, as good as I looked, I need a watch that isn't quite so “dragon-y”.

I've really made no secret of my being slightly high-maintenance. It's super cool if you want to get me a bunch of flowers that I don't want and will end up putting in a Big Gulp cup on my kitchen table to justify your efforts or if you want to roll up at my front door covered in whipped cream because I totally want to be pleasured by someone that reeks of increasingly spoiling dairy, but if you want me to like you, like, really like you, love you like a love song, you have to give me the universe and then let me eat it.

30 minutes of scratching Bobby Raffin’s beard. If you’re not up-to-date on Bobby, you're missing out on some of my favorite facial hair in the internet fashion community. I'm proud to say that the next time I see bby Bobby, his beard will be long enough for me to braid. He's also my favorite Canadian next to Dean and Dan Caten.
